RGC Centre for the Advancement of Best Practices

The Centre for the Advancement of Best Practices (CABP) focuses on developing and sharing evidence-based approaches that improve responsible gambling standards across the industry.

The CABP is part of the Responsible Gambling Council and serves as a hub for research, innovation, and knowledge-sharing. Its main goal is to help organizations move beyond basic compliance and adopt stronger, more effective responsible gambling practices that are grounded in real evidence and practical application.

What Responsible Gaming Means

What CABP does

The CABP works to identify, test, and promote best practices in responsible gambling. This includes reviewing existing approaches, conducting applied research, and translating findings into practical tools that organizations can actually use.

It also plays an important role in sharing knowledge across the industry—helping operators, regulators, and stakeholders understand what works, what doesn’t, and how to continuously improve player protection strategies.

Past CABP Projects include:

  • Development of evidence-based responsible gambling guidelines for gambling operators
  • Research on player behaviour patterns and early risk detection indicators
  • Evaluation of responsible gambling tools such as limit-setting and self-exclusion systems
  • Studies on the effectiveness of responsible gambling messaging and warnings
  • Creation of training frameworks for frontline gambling staff
  • Assessment of digital responsible gambling interventions in online platforms
  • Collaboration with industry partners to pilot new harm-minimization strategies
  • Publication of best practice reports to support global responsible gambling standards
